Newbie Gym Etiquette

Re-Rack Those Weights :: photo by Christopher Jolliff
  1. I know this gets repetitive, but PLEASE, put your weights away! This is truly important. Keep squat racks and power racks clear of any bars or plates that may cause someone else to trip on them. Make sure DB's are racked. Be courteous to others and help keep the gym safe!
  2. Please learn to ask, "Are you using this?" It never fails with newbies in the gym... they jump right on a piece of equipment without asking those who are close by if they are currently using it. Be polite and ask. Do so in a friendly manner and he or she may invite you to "work in."
  3. If you have any questions for an experienced lifter you see in the gym regarding training, diet, supplements, etc, make sure to wait until they are resting…never interrupt during a set! Be polite and patient and you will likely get a positive and helpful response.
    Last, but certainly not least...
  4. Never ever use a piece of equipment as your personal chair while chatting on the cell phone! If you are not training then let someone else use it!
